OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS FROM AGADIR

  1. Imouzzer Excursion Depart from your hotel at 8.30am and travel through Paradise Valley, filled with palm trees and olive groves and meandering brooks. Visit the waterfalls known at The Bride’s Veil and the village of Imouzzer before returning to Agadir and your hotel by 12 Noon. A must of nature lovers! Balance of day is at leisure.
  2. Inezgane & Massa Excursion – Depart from your hotel at 8.00am for the nearby town of Inezgane, which is famous for its Tuesday markets. Here Berber tribes come from all over the country, and the market is filled with spices, jewels, textiles and even snake charmers. Continue on to the Massa Lagoon, a bird sanctuary where you may see a large variety of birds both indigenous and migratory in their natural habitat. Return to Agadir and your hotel by 12 Noon. Balance of day is at leisure.
  3. Tafraout Excursion – Depart from your hotel at 7.00am for a full day excursion. Travelling southeast out of Agadir, you will pass a number of fortified villages during the scenic drive up into the Anti Atlas Mountains to Tafraout. Here, set amongst palm groves, the village of Tafraout is surrounded by astounding pink granite rocks, not unlike those found in the Badlands of South Dakota. On the way back, there will be a stop at Tiznit that is famous for its silver crafts. Return to your hotel in Agadir by 6.30pm.
  4. Marrakech Excursion – Depart from your hotel at 7.00am for a full day excursion. Steeped in history, Marrakech with its rose-coloured ramparts and thousand year old palm groves casts a magic spell. This is very much an Imperial city where even today Berbers and Arabs mingle with nomads and mountain tribes. Your tour will include a visit to the beautiful Menara Gardens, the Old Medina, and a close view of the famous Koutoubia Minaret; the Bahia Palace with its lush Moorish-style Gardens dates from the reign of Moulay al-Hassan, when it was built as the residence of the grand vizier, Sidi Ahmed Ben Moussa, and the nearby Palais Dar Si Said which is the Museum of Moroccan Arts and finally the Saadien Tombs. Return to your hotel in Agadir by 9.00pm.
  5. Essaouira Excursion – Depart from your hotel at 7.00am for a full day excursion.
Travel north from Agadir to the coastal town of Essaouira. Founded by the Phoenicians, its most enduring influence came from the Portuguese, giving this walled town its 18th Century look with whitewashed buildings with blue shutters. Popular as a seaside resort, it has a lovely harbour and the Medina is well known for its many wood carvers.
Return to your hotel in Agadir by 6.30pm. The evening is at leisure.
  6. Taroudant and Tiout Excursion – Depart from your hotel at 8.00am for a full day excursion. To the east of Agadir, visit the palm groves of Tiout with its stone built Kasbah, one of the largest in Southern Morocco. You will also tour this area riding a donkey. Spend the afternoon in Taroudant, a very old Saadian capital and one of the oldest fortified cities in Morocco. Here, you see the Pasha’s Palace as well as the Kasbah and visit the souks (markets) where craftsmen work with wood, copper and silver. Return to your hotel in Agadir by 5.30pm. The evening is at leisure.
