DAY 3 Casablanca or Rabat or Fes
The day is at leisure to relax and explore on your, or you may choose one of the following optional full day excursions (at additional cost).

  1. Rabat Excursion – Depart from your hotel at 10.00am, driving along the Atlantic coast from Casablanca to Rabat, past many affluent seaside resorts. Rabat, with its white buildings rising majestically on the banks of an estuary, has a history that stretches back to the time of the Phoenicians, and it takes its name from the Arabic word ribat meaning ‘fortified monastery’. Today it is both capital of Morocco and a Royal city where his Majesty Mohamed VI resides in the Royal Palace. It also has the country’s largest university and is a center of culture and the arts. During your tour you will visit the Hassan Tower, the Mohamed V Mausoleum and the Casbah of Oudayas. There will be a stop for lunch (own expense) during the tour. Return to the hotel by 5.00pm. The evening is at leisure.
  2. Marrakech Excursion – Depart from your hotel at 7.00am and drive inland to Marrakech, one of Morocco’s most important cultural centres. Founded in 1062 AD by Sultan Youssef bin Tachfine, it was the capital of the Almoravid Empire for over 200 years, and again for a period of time in the 16th Century. Your tour will include a visit to the beautiful Menara Gardens, the Old Medina, and a close view of the famous Koutoubia Minaret. The Bahia Palace with its lush Moorish-style Gardens dates from the reign of Moulay al-Hassan, when it was built as the residence of the grand vizier, Sidi Ahmed Ben Moussa. The nearby Palais Dar Si Said is the Museum of Moroccan Arts. Adjacent to the Kasbah Mosque are the Saadien Tombs. After lunch (not included) visit the Old City with its wonderful souks (markets). The souks of Marrakech are some of the best in Morocco, producing a wide variety of high-quality crafts. Then continue on to the famous Djemaa El Fna Square when it is at its liveliest in the late afternoon. Rows of open-air food stalls are set up and mouth-watering aromas fill the air. Jugglers, storytellers, snake charmers, magicians, acrobats and benign lunatics take over the rest of the space! Return to your hotel in Casablanca at 8.00pm.
  3. Fes Excursion – Depart from your hotel at 7.00am and drive through the countryside to Fes the most imperial of all the cities in Morocco and considered the jewel of the medieval Spanish-Arabic civilisation. This is the city of Moulay Idriss 1st with its great Karaouiyne University, which for eleven centuries has been a religious and intellectual centre whose influence spread far beyond Morocco’s boundaries. Bustling with artisans and merchants, its captivating sounds, fragrances and colours will mesmerise you with its constant swirl of activity. Your tour will include visits to the tanners, Foundouk des tisserants, Medersa El Attarine, La Qaraouiyne, The Nejjarine Fountain, the souks (market) and a carpet co-operative. Stop at the Gate of Bab Boujloud, the ancient ramparts and the front entrance to the Royal Palace. Return to Casablanca by 8.00pm.
